“Lantern craftsmanship is an intangible cultural heritage. It is passed down through mentorship, often within famillies. Some things cannot be explained through theory alone. They can only be understood through experience.”

The process begins with designers who develop the concept, scale, and visual identity of the lantern. Structural artisans then transform those drawings into three-dimensional steel frameworks. Electricians install thousands of LED lights and control systems. Finally, the fabric artisans carefully cover and finish every surface before painters apply the final details.
As master designer Luo Ziming explains:
“It requires an understanding of space, materials, mechanics, and artistic design. All of these elements must work together to present the final piece effectively.”
